René’s experiment involved a robot and a flock of chicks in a cage. At first, there were no chicks in the room. The robot was allowed to roam freely as it wanted in the room. Then a cage of chicks was brought into the room. The little chicks imprinted on the robot as if it was their mother.

The robot started spending more time in the area where chicks were kept. Whereas, before the chicks were brought in, it (the robot) was just wandering aimlessly here and there.
